iPad light and ‘future magic’
“We use photographic and animation techniques that were developed to draw moving 3-dimensional typography and objects with an iPad. In dark environments, we play movies on the surface of the iPad that extrude 3-d light forms as they move through the exposure. Multiple exposures with slightly different movies make up the stop-frame animation.” mcgarrybowen
Dentsu London wants to “make future magic.” As part of their efforts, the creative communications agency partnered with BERG, a London design consulting firm, to create the project featured in the video below. The result of the collaboration is an inventive use of new media: using an iPad to paint light which was then used to create 3D stop animation. Jack Schulze of BERG explains more of the process in the video below, as well as in this blog post. Although the process is complex, the end result is simply magical. (source: Huffington Post).
