KEYNOTE: iPadpalooza Texas ‘The Content is the Experience: The Art of Education’
It’s not everyday you are asked to keynote a conference alongside Simon Pierro (the iPad magician) and Austin Kleon (Steal Like an Artist)…but then, iPadpalooza is no ordinary conference.
For this keynote, I decided to take some risks. Usually, I am very comfortable on stage because I am talking about the wonderful work being produced by our creative students worldwide. Of course those themes still took centre stage, but I also worked in some personal stories, and images of my family for the first time. The feedback has been overwhelmingly affirming and incredibly humbling.
What really blew my mind was the amount of ‘things’ people made out in the audience. I had more than 1200 tweets during the hour-long session, many containing image, hand drawn sketches and notes, and some super sketch notes kept popping up for days. Importantly, I could see that the key ideas I wanted to share really resonated with the audience.
Thanks to Laura Grundler for this great collection of thoughts…
